Sep 29 2007 - 8:30am Sep 29 2007 - 4:00pm Etc/GMT-5 Our election process has become increasingly undemocratic. If ever there was a time to reclaim our democracy it is now. The Citizens’ Summit seeks to educate and mobilize individuals and groups to develop a comprehensive plan for fairly funding political campaigns. Join concerned citizens, community leaders and activists as we examine our current system, and learn to develop more democratic alternatives. The Summit will feature plenary panel discussions, an Interactive Café, a variety of workshops. Speakers include activist and author Doris “Granny D” Haddock who walked across the country in her 90th year for campaign finance reform; Eric Ehst, Executive Director of Arizona Clean Elections; Adam Mason with Voter-Owned Iowa Clean Elections; Common Cause organizer Jon Bartholomew for Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, and many more. Pre-registration fee is $20 ($10 for students with valid ID) and includes lunch. Pre-registration deadline is Friday September 14th. We cannot guarantee lunch for registrations received after the 14th. Onsite registration is $20 but does not include lunch.
