“Advocacy to End Hunger in Our Time”First Indiana Bread for the World Conference Sat. March 29, 2008 The Indiana chapters of Bread for the World are sponsoring their first-ever statewide conference, convened under the theme “Advocacy to End Hunger in Our Time”.  Millions of U.S. children go hungry every year, and millions more children around the world die every year from hunger or from preventable and treatable disease. This conference will bring together national and local anti-hunger leaders along with concerned individuals from across Indiana to learn about hunger and how to use our voices to end hunger in our lifetimes.

Sai Maa, an Indian spiritual leader and humanitarian dedicated to shifting human awareness and facilitating global transformation through selfless service, will give a workshop on Ultimate Healing at Unity Church, 907 N. Our election process has become increasingly undemocratic. If ever there was a time to reclaim our democracy it is now. The Citizens’ Summit seeks to educate and mobilize individuals and groups to develop a comprehensive plan for fairly funding political campaigns. Join concerned citizens, community leaders and activists as we examine our current system, and learn to develop more democratic alternatives. The Summit will feature plenary panel discussions, an Interactive Café, a variety of workshops.

Body:
A series of workshops, lectures, cultural performances, and public demonstrations on the need to promote nonviolent conflict resolution and social, economic and environmental justice. Cindy Sheehan will speak on Friday at 8 pm (in IUPUI Lecture Hall, University and New York) and former Guantonomo chaplain James Yee will speak Sat. at 5:15 pm.
